Unique new chicken concept opens

Fresh off the grill, Peri Peri Chicken has officially opened its doors for business.

The new eatery, which opened on Black Friday, is inside of the Columbus Food Hall, a collection of commercial ghost kitchen located at 1282 Essex Ave.

The eatery is named after peri peri sauce, which is made using the African bird’s eye chili and is popular in addition to chicken in countries like Mozambique and South Africa. The sauce is sweet, citrusy and spicy and is typically used as a marinade before the chicken is grilled, creating a orange to light brown coating.

Peri Peri Chicken, which is 100 percent halal, cooks its chicken, corn and other offerings on a fire grill. Specializing in its namesake dish, Peri Peri chicken also serves mashed potatoes, garlic bread, halloumi cheese and more.
