Wario’s reveals grand opening date for hotly-anticipated Clintonville restaurant

Sandwich fans across Columbus, we have a date.

For what, you ask? Only the highly-anticipated grand opening of Wario’s Beef & Pork, the East Coast-inspired sandwich shop that has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks of the local food scene since its original location opened in the Arena District several years ago.

Known for massive cheesesteaks and combining an approachable atmosphere with artisan-level food preparation, the new Wario’s opens on Jan. 27, It will be open 11 a.m. until the eatery is sold out for its grand opening celebration.

The new Wario’s is located at 4219 N. High St. in Clintonville, in the former home of The Pit BBQ Grille.

According to owner Wario’s Stephen Madias in an interview with 614Now from late last year, the new location has been in the works since March of 2022, and operates as their first standalone brick and mortar storefront.

“A brick & mortar space allows us to control the dialogue and atmosphere of the things we speak about. It will be more of a vintage and family-oriented vibe, with community tables,” Madias said. “We want to be that neighborhood spot. That was always our intention.”

Wario’s original eatery is located at 111 W. Nationwide Blvd., and another concept from Wario’s ownership, the Midwest-focused sandwich shop Goood Friends operates from the Downtown Columbus location of Jackie O’s Brewing,
