After more than 30 years, this iconic ride is closing for good

After operating for over three decades, a Cedar Point ride will close for good.

According to a Cedar Point blog post made on Aug. 2, Snake River Falls will make its last splash in less than a month. The ride will permanently close on Sept. 2.

“Get ready to go over the falls one last time,” the post reads. “After 31 years of soaking riders (both on the ride and over its splashy bridge), it’s time to ‘wave’ goodbye to the Snake River Falls boat ride.”

A water ride featuring an 82-foot drop, when Snake River Falls debuted in 1993, it did so as the world’s tallest, steepest and fastest water flume ride.

Cedar Point noted Snake River Falls will close to make room for park expansion. It will also hold a “last splash” in the next few weeks, although the details on that have not been announced.
