A Columbus business that served local musicians and more over the course of almost four decades has closed its doors.

Abell Repair, an instrument repair and audio equipment store located at 909 King St. STE 300, closed on Dec. 15.

The Fifth by Northwest shop specialized in professional audio repair, and provided optimization and repairs of musical instruments, recording gear, DJ equipment, amplifiers and other audio equipment.

The store’s website currently only contains a message about the shop closing and instructions on how to pick up equipment.

“Dear Valued Customers, sadly, our doors are now closed to the public. We are not maintaining regular operating hours. If you still have gear at Abell for pickup, please contact us at [email protected] In your email, please leave complete contact information including phone number and the unit in question.  We will contact you to arrange a time for pickup and rectify any remaining balance. Please do not leave a message on our phone line.  That phone line is not being monitored. Thank you for 40 years of past patronage,” Abell’s website reads.

Dan Abell opened the store in November of 1984, according to his LinkedIn page.
