Former German Village restaurant demolished; here’s what appears to be replacing it

Some used the abandoned Long John Silvers restaurant at the corner of Thurman and S. High St. to sell their barbeque; some posted up there and sold flags and t-shirts; some actually even lived inside and on the premises.

After a decade of the fast-food restaurant being closed, plans to move forward with demolition actually took place yesterday, August 26. The entire restaurant has now been flattened.

High St./Greenlawn intersection, which sees a plethora of car accidents, which could be attributed to the confusion of it being prohibited to turn South down High St. from Thurman Ave., or North up High St. from Greenlawn.

According to the Public Service Fact Sheet on the City’s website, a $2.8 million project is seeking to improve this confusing intersection, with motorists then being allowed to turn left on High St. from Thurman Ave. or Greenlawn Ave. The project details traffic signal improvements among other projects that would hopefully help the flow of traffic.
