Man allegedly climbed through local Wendy’s drive-thru and assaulted employee, police say

Sav McKee

In the early morning hours of May 30, before Wendy’s even opened, William Foster was allegedly banging on the drive-thru window at the fast-food chain. Employees told police that the man was holding a cellphone with the store manager’s name displayed on it.

Court documents show that when an employee opened the drive-through window, Foster requested to speak to a woman who was working inside the Wendy’s, located at 3090 East Main St. The employee left the window to search for the other employee, and during this time, Foster climbed through the drive-thru window.

Foster followed the employee to the manager’s office, and he allegedly struck her on the head and body several times, according to documents from the Franklin County Municipal Court, causing her to fall to the floor. He was then accused of taking the woman’s cellphone, then walking out.

The incident was captured on video surveillance. The manager who was working at the time was able to identify Foster from a photo array. The manager then told police that Foster, and the victim who was assaulted, actually were living in his basement.

Foster was arrested Saturday, June 15, and admitted to the police that he assaulted the victim. He was charged with aggravated robbery.

One of the workers present at the time this took place said they were uncomfortable with commenting on the matter.
