One person dead after falling from Ohio Stadium stands at OSU graduation

One person has died after falling from the stands of Ohio Stadium during the University’s spring commencement ceremony, the school said in a statement.

“We are aware of an incident at the stadium during today’s commencement. An individual fell from the stands. They are deceased. We have no additional details to share at this time. Police and emergency responders are on scene,” Ohio State University representative Benjamin Johnson told 614Now. “For anyone affected by today’s incident, we will make counseling and other support resources available.”

It’s unclear exactly what occurred to cause the incident, and the name of the deceased individual was not made public by the time this story was published.

The school’s spring commencement ceremony took place yesterday, and more than 12,000 students were expected to participate. The school estimated 60,000 guests would attend the event.
