Two Ashtabula women have been charged with gross abuse of a corpse after the pair allegedly propped up their recently-deceased roommate to withdraw money from his bank account, police say.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Police Chief of the City of Ashtabula, on March 4, Loren Feralo and Karen Casbohm drove their recently-deceased roommate, 80-year old Douglas Layman to an Ashtabula bank in order to withdraw money.

“It is further alleged that Mr. Layman was placed in the vehicle in such a manner that he would be visible to bank staff in order to make the withdrawal “ the statement reads, noting the two were helped by an unnamed third individual.
