Campus robbers steal backpack from sleeping man; shoot him in the foot
After one man was arrested for his alleged involvement in an unusual robbery case, while Police remain on the hunt for a second suspect.
According to police, the victim in the case had fallen asleep with his backpack on at a table within the Gateway Shopping center at 1:54 a.m. on July 7. Skyler Steward, 18, and another suspect who has yet to be identified, allegedly removed the victim’s backpack while he was asleep.
While the two individuals tried to flee, the victim woke up and began chasing them, police said, before the still-unidentified suspect turned and shot him in the foot, police said.

The victim stopped chasing the suspects as they fled down North Pearl Street.
According to Police, Steward was arrested later the same evening on High Street, and police are still looking for the other individual. Steward told police he was involved in the robbery, but was not the shooter. The 18 year-old was charged with multiple felonies, according to court documents.
