Holiday fun, plus plenty of shopping and dining, abound in the Short North
The Short North Arts District is your hub for shopping, dining and more throughout this holiday season, with festive experiences beginning on November 29 and a huge, pedestrian-only Holiday Hop event planned for Saturday, December 7.
You likely didn’t need anyone to remind you that the Short North is a Columbus hotspot, complete with boutique shops, local artisans, historic galleries, fine dining and enterainment. Well, here’s a reminder anyway.
During the Holiday Hop event, a portion of High Street will become a pedestrian-only market where more than 100 local vendors will set up shop in addition to the festive gift offerings of the Short North’s brick-and-mortar business, 84% of which are locally owned. Once you’re all shopped out, you can take in the live street performances, get your photo with Santa, or even put on some skates and enjoy the outdoor rink. Regardless of if you’re shopping for a special gift, looking for something to eat or just trying to have a fun day in Ohio’s Capital City, there will be something for everyone at Holiday Hop
What’s more, parking is now easier than ever in the Short North, and you can take advantage ofone free daytime hour of parking validation in four participating garages. If you’re all about convenience, you’ll also enjoy complementary gift wrapping during Holiday Hop, and the chance to pre-order and pick up your holiday tree at the event.
This holiday season, patrons can participate in the Short North Arts District Holiday Trail. A festive riff on the popular passport-style trail tour, anyone can collect stickers while making apurchase from at least three Short North businesses from Nov. 29-Dec. 31. Complete the trail by getting at least three stickers, and you can claim a prize from a long list of exciting items, including festive scented candles, peppermint mochas and more.
If you’re just looking to soak in the holidays, the Short North offers a bevy of free-to-participate holiday trails and treasures, like the Elf Trail which invites kids 12 and under to find elves hidden on the shelves of Short North businesses. There’s also a window art contest for businesses, where window shoppers can enjoy the decked out displays under the festive lights of the Short North arches
