Popular burger & custard chain opens first Central Ohio location

Good news, burger (and veggie burger) fans. A new (to us) burger joint is finally here.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has officially made its way to the Columbus metro area, now open at 4108 Buckeye Parkway in Grove City. After some minor delays, the highly-anticipated fast food restaurant opened its doors on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

As online chatter speculated when the opening would officially happen, Grove City Government’s Instagram (@grovecityohio) confirmed that Freddy’s is open for dine-in, drive-thru, or to order online, urging the community to “Go check it out!”

When I went by for the 6:30pm dinner rush last night, the line was out the door and the dining area was standing room only.

The old school burger joint has quickly been gaining popularity in recent years across the U.S. after its first opening in Wichita, Kansas in 2002. There are currently over 500 Freddy’s locations across 35 states, with central Ohio being one of the latest to debut. Another Columbus-area Freddy’s is set to open in Hilliard at 1719 Hilliard Rome Rd in the near future.

The Freddy’s menu boasts steakburgers, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, hotdogs, classic sides like fries and onion rings, and a highly-rated veggie burger that can be made vegan by omitting the cheese and thousand island dressing. Veg-heads, rejoice!

In addition to savory options, Freddy’s also offers a variety of frozen custard shakes and desserts. Diners can choose from the menu or create their own concoction with a mix of candy and cookie toppings.

Visitors can order ahead online or via the app, or stop in to check out the nostalgic vibes inside the restaurant, including black checker-print floors and shiny red seats. No matter where you are in central Ohio, trust me, it’s worth driving in to give it a try.
