Two-year-old openly fired a gun inside an Ohio Walmart, according to police report
On Thursday, November 16th, the Waverly Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting of a gunshot inside of a Waverly, Ohio Wal-Mart.
A two-year-old boy was the one who fird the gun, who, according to his mother, took a Taurus 9mm firearm out of her purse, discharged the weapon, and penetrated the ceiling. The son had a minor injury on his forehead due to contact with the magazine, said the WPD press release.
The toddler’s mother was willingly waiting for the police and willingly provided an account of what happened. Due to the nature of the incident, the mother who was responsible for the firearm was taken into custody and charged with Endangering Children through Pike County Court. The child was released to the care of a guardian and taken to Urgent Care.

In light of this, The Waverly Police Department emphasizes the importance of responsible firearm ownership and storage, especially those with children. “Incidents like these underscore the need for heightened awareness and safety measures to prevent such accidents from occuring,” said the Police Department.
A couple of days later, on Monday, November 20th, a man opened fire in a Beavercreek, Ohio Walmart, injuring three women, a man, and then turning the weapon on himself, according to AP News. The shooter entered the store at about 8:30pm, wielding a Hi-Point 45-caliber Carbine long gun, shooting an undetermined number of rounds, according to authorities. Three of the victims are in stable conditions, while the fourth is in critical but stable condition. The shooter has been identified as Benjamin Charles Jones, a 20 year old from Dayton, Ohio.
