Columbus’ oldest known home on record is now up for rent
A historic, log cabin built in 1804 now has a unit up for short term rent or extended stays on Zillow.
“This furnished historic cabin was built on Norwich Avenue in 1804, and is truly an icon in terms of its surroundings in Northwood Park,” the Zillow listing boasts. “Enjoy the incredible history and architecture inside this unique space! It has an outdoor patio and fire pit/grill area, and an upstairs workshop space that is ideal for group meetings or meditation, this cabin could be a unique getaway in an otherwise busy part of town.”
This 220 year old cabin was originally built by David Beers on High & Dodridge, but it was relocated to 40 E. Norwich in 1904 in the University District. It was built eight years before Columbus was even established as a city, and has since then, has been expanded, but not completely renovated. Historians know of no other home that’s as old as the Beers Cabin.
