Head Chef of cocktail lounge passes away

A Buckeye Lake cocktail bar was temporarily closed yesterday following the death of its head chef, Justin Gottschalk of Newark.

According to a social media post from Hereinafter Cocktail Tavern, where Gottschalk served as the head chef, the Newark, Ohio-based culinary professional passed away late last week. 

The cocktail lounge was closed yesterday following his passing.

“We are devastated by his loss and grateful for the time he spent at Hereinafter and for the contributions he made to this place we call home. We will be closed today in order to give our staff time and space to honor Justin and grieve,” Hereinafter’s post reads.

Visitation will be held at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home in Newark from 4-6 p.m. on Feb. 15.

Located at 3430 N. Bank Rd., Hereinafter Cocktail Tavern opened its doors in January of 2023,  bringing gastronomic cocktails and more to the Buckeye Lake area.
