Beloved ‘assistant manager’ cat at popular brewery diagnosed with cancer; here’s how to help
Some of us visit Seventh Son Brewery for the Assistant Manager Beer, but if you’re an animal lover like myself, we visit the local brewery for the actual assistant manager: Horatio, the cat (who has more Instagram followers than I do, btw).
Horatio, who was a stray in the neighborhood in the early days of the brewery, stuck around so long that he eventually made Seventh Son his home. You’ll usually find him snoozing on the job, cuddling with guests, or just leisurely walking about, taking it all in.
Well, Seventh Son Brewery shared some not so great news about our favorite feline on their social media. “We know that many of you may have heard that our favorite employee Assistant Manager Cat (aka Horatio) has cancer in his right hind leg. Fibrosarcoma is more common than we realize in cats. We hope to use this moment to highlight feline cancer treatment and help other pets and their parents in a similar situation. While veterinary medicine is considerably cheaper than human medicine, it still comes at a considerable cost. We are offering two ways you can help,” they announced.

The post continues, “The first is a GoFundMe where 50% of the proceeds will go to the Assistant Manager’s care, and 50% will be split between UC Davis’s Feline Cancer Research Fund and Ellies Rainy Day Fund – an Ohio-based organization that gives financial assistance to help with pet cancer treatment. Once our goal has been reached and Horatio is back to work, 100% of the funds further raised will go towards these two charity organizations.”
And lastly, “The second option is a $15 commemorative glass available through our website. 50% of the profits from each glass will go towards the Manager’s care, and 50% will be split between UC Davis feline cancer research and Ellies Rainy Day. Once our goal has been reached, 100% of the proceeds will go towards these two organizations.”
