This ‘Best You’ve Never Heard Of’ shawarma restaurant serves incredible chicken wings

AnA Shawarma is a hidden gem serving up 100% halal food seven days a week. Located at 2864 N High St., they operate as a ghost kitchen. A ghost kitchen doesn’t mean the kitchen is haunted, it’s just a shared-use commercial kitchen with multiple brands.

Delivery or carryout are offered, and they have a couple of seats in the waiting area. You can easily order online or ring their doorbell when you arrive. So, let’s ring that bell and get into my favorite dishes here:

Chicken Wings:

You can order 6, 10, 15, or 20 crispy wings fried to perfection! These wings are super crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They’re also wonderfully saucy without getting soggy. My favorite flavors are the house-made Buffalo and Lemon Pepper.

Mix Shawarma:

A must-try, it comes with brown rice, salad, a mix of lamb and chicken, all covered in their signature white sauce. Each component shines with great flavor and texture. The rice is perfectly cooked, the salad is fresh, and there’s a generous serving of protein. I ordered mine with white sauce and extra hot sauce—it was a major feast.

Chopped Cheese:

This dish is a NYC staple brought to Columbus. It features burger meat chopped on the flat-top and grilled with onions, topped with yellow cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and ketchup/mayo, all wrapped in a freshly baked sub bun. It’s a delicious and hearty option that you don’t want to miss.

I asked how they consistently serve amazingly flavorful food, and the owner Azee Raghbat said, “I pour my heart into my food, and that translates over to my team as well because I only like to work with people who have the same passion as me. When we’re working, there is no boss or employee; it’s just a team of moving parts trying to put things together.”

What other Columbus restaurateurs pour their heart into their food and deserve more attention? Let us know where we should go next for ‘The Best You’ve Never Heard Of.’
