Buckeyes QB, J.T. Barrett, Named Player of the Week

After the Buckeyes obliterated Bowling Green on Saturday, people have been abuzz with J.T. Barrett’s season debut. The game broke a few records, specifically the total yards in a game, 776.

Accounted for a school-record seven touchdowns in Ohio State’s victory over Bowling Green to improve to 16-2 as a starter. That’s an 88% win percentage.

Barrett completed 21 of 31 passes for 349 yards and six touchdowns. He set a personal best for passing yards and matching his career high in touchdown tosses.

Added one rushing touchdown to finish with 379 total yards of offense

One of the things that has haunted J.T. Barrett since his game on saturday is the pick-six, which is when a pass is intercepted (the pick) by the defending team (thus becoming the offense) and they manage to run it for a touchdown (the six points.)

“Coach Meyer, he didn’t say anything to me. The conversation I had with myself, though? I was like, ‘Well, darn J,’ I didn’t use darn, but I’m trying to keep it PG in here. I was like, ‘Man, J, if someone would have told you that you’d throw a pick-six on the first drive of the 2016 season, you’d be like, ‘you’re a liar.'” Barrett said according to Cleveland.com

Barrett claims the fifth Offensive Player of the Week award of his career and first since Oct. 26, 2015.
