Voting for Olympic Apartments postponed
The closing of the failing Olympic Swim Club sparked outrage through the Clintonville community. The owners though are trying to move forward and build a multi-use complex in its place. The council though, chose to postpone the rezoning vote to Oct. 2, despite (or because of) the packed room likely wanting to hear about the controversial topic. The place was so packed a Division of Fire official had to have about two dozen people leave, according to ThisWeek Community News. There will be a community meeting on the rezoning issue for the Olympic, probably because of how many people showed up to the meeting hear about the decision, the council decided.

Olympic Swim Club owner moves forward for rezoning
The owner of Olympic Swim Club is moving forward with plans to replace the Clintonville pool that has been in her family for years. Kyle Katz and wife April Zimmerman Katz are looking to rezone the property to commercial planned development. “We feel there’s an unmet demand for both the residential and commercial,” Kyle Katz said to Columbus Business First. “There’s tremendous potential at this site.” If the rezoning goes through, the Katz along with Crawford Hoying Development Partners will begin to reshape the area with hopes of opening in 2016.

Olympic Swim Club space gets a new purpose
The Olympic Swim Club will shut down this year after 76 years of running, but the new plans would keep the space in the family. The proposal would be a four-story mixed-use site at the Clintonville location. The developer, Kyle Katz is planning to work in tandem with his wife who is also the owner of the Olympic Swim Club. The pool had been losing money and membership for years and will shut down because of that loss. According to Columbus Underground though, this new proposal could keep the space in the family for generations to come with apartments on the top levels and store fronts below. While some of the community has been upset with the closing of the historic pool, Katz said he has been working with the city to create something that would benefit the community.
