An Ohio bill that could soon become a law would make diversity training mandatory for newly hired police chiefs. This bill comes at a time when high racial tensions run between the police force and the neighborhoods they serve.
Here are some headlines highlighting this tension here in the city:
- CPD officer’s gun taken for foul language used during arrest
- Family of man shot by police in Franklinton react to body cam footage
- Rosen story continues: Police union planning appeal of firing
- Man in viral altercation with OSU police not arrested
- One Pride protestor held on $200,000 bond
The training would consist of a 40-hour class held twice a year, reports NBC4i.
Senate Bill 37 is headed back to the Senate for final vote.
