After 43 years of business, local German Village shop closing their doors

Sav McKee

Ron Waldron is ready to take a step back and enter his next chapter in life: retirement.

Unfortunately for German Village, this means possibly losing their local flower shop, named Village Petals, located in a quaint little cottage at 573 S. Grant St.

But it’s not all bad news. Ron said that he’s selling the building and the business together, if anyone is interested in taking over both the building and the flower business, which he said has been extremely successful since he took over as the owner 35 years ago.

“We’ve already laid the railroad track for a successful business,” he emphasized. “The walk-in trade is really well, and someone would have access to everything – my inventory, decorations, name – everything. It’s fabulous.”

If that special someone is you, check out the listing here. The building is $400,000 on its own, but $505,000 for the building and the business all in one.

Village Petals will be closing in mid-September if someone decides not to pursue buying the business outright, said Ron. The shop has been a community staple for decades, with people able to buy fresh flower bouquets on the spot, or have them delivered around town.

Ron, and all of the gorgeous flower bouquets, will surely be missed.
