Columbus’ The Kitchn wins big
The James Beard Award, which is pretty much the Oscars of the culinary world, are taking notice of Columbus’ talent. Clintonville’s Faith Durand, executive editor of The Kitchn, and her co-author Sara Kate Gillingham, the site’s founding editor, won the “General Coobook” category at the awards this Saturday in New York. When talking about the win, Durand said: “We are all super surprised and thrilled.”
Suddenly, I’m feeling a very strong desire to cook and claim it’s all part of my Columbus pride. (deb)

Columbus writer promotes book while blogging
From her home in Clintonville, Faith Durand, manages the website The Kitchn, dedicated to dolling out recipes and food inspiration. This month, she also released “The Kitchn Cookbook” with Sara Kate Gillingham. The site has been running for eight years, and the two thought it would be good timing to release their own book, and the paper form looks similar to the way the website is structured. For her, Columbus is key. She talks about home and about stories of the Midwest that wouldn’t be as touching or as relatable if she were living in LA or New York.
