ODOT: SmartLane, “Megafix,” Route 33 widening breakdown

You’ve already wasted enough time during your morning commute so we’re going to shake out the latest news from ODOT real quick like:
Route 33 widening
- Ohio will add a lane on Route 33 in each direction between Hamilton Road and I-270 interchange
- Construction to begin in May
- Supposed to be finished in October 2019
- Will affect nearly 67,000 daily travelers
- Cost: $12.7 million
- Plan also includes resurfacing between I-270 and Hamilton Road and widening the bridge over Big Walnut Creek.
- Weekend and nighttime lane and ramp closures may apply
I-270 widening/resurfacing
- Widen 270 between Interstate 70 and Route 33 in western Franklin County
- Gaining one more lane in each direction (four lanes total)
- Supposed to be finished in September
- Cost: $58.4 million
- Will affect between 103,000 and 116,000 daily travelers
South Side “Megafix”
- Work continues on widening and fixing of Interstate 71 between Stringtown Road and Route 315
- Scheduled to be finished until June 2020
- Cost: $113 million
I-670 East “SmartLane”
- Commuters on I-670 E will be able to utilize left shoulder
- Project includes two new ramps from eastbound I-670 to northbound I-270 that will separate traffic heading north on I-270 or toward Easton Way and Route 161
- Construction set to begin in July
- Cost: $58 million
