5 fests to help you fall in love with autumn in central Ohio

Summer is unofficially over which doesn’t mean you need to pull out the cardigans just yet but it is time to start thinking about switching gears.

Next stop: Fall.

If you’re feeling a little separation anxiety about the fleeting summer, hopefully these five fall festivals will help you fall in love with the season on deck.

Circleville Pumpkin Show

When: Oct. 17 – Oct. 20

Where: Circleville

This must-attend fall festival is jammed-packed with parades, pies, pumpkins and all the fall bumpkin things you can imagine.

HighBall Halloween

When: Oct. 26 – Oct. 27

Where: Short North Arts District

Watch High St. turn into a real life Halloweentown and dance around the Short North like Marnie discovering she’s a witch at HighBall Halloween.

This year’s party will feature a fabulous tribute to the Spice Girls, a public costume contest, street performances and of course the Battelle Costume Couture Fashion Show.

Creepside

When: Oct. 27

Where: Creekside Park & Plaza, 117 Mill St., Gahanna

Put on your costumes, dress up the kids and join us for Creepside! This event is free and appropriate for all ages. Event highlights include: live music, games, inflatables, pumpkin painting, activities, haunted trail, trick or treat with local organizations and plenty of candy.

Ohio Renaissance Festival

When: Weekends from September through October

Where: 10542 East State Route 73, Waynesville

Travel to the shire of Harveysburg and enjoy over 400 years of fun with reenactments, fun, entertainment, costumes, strength competitions, and so much more.

Boo! with the Zoo

When: Wednesday, October 17 from 5:30- 7:30pm.

Where: Gateway – University District, 1566 N High St

Guests can enjoy a happy hour/beer tasting while Zoo handlers rotate select animals out for your meeting and greeting pleasure. There will also be sweet and savory snacks to fill your belly for hibernation.

The booze and animal festivities will conclude with an outdoor screening of “The Addams Family.”
