“Don’t sleep on this city,” Columbus makes Food & Wine’s top 32 list

Guess who made Food & Wine‘s list of “32 Places To Go (And Eat) in 2019?” Hint: It’s us!

Under the category “The Ones We Expect Big Things From,” Columbus was placed #10 on the list.

“If there’s one thing we know about the Midwest now, it’s to stop expecting certain things from the Midwest, and certainly not Ohio’s capital city, which has a nearly Sun Belt-esque buoyancy about it these days, as it welcomes all-comers, from all over the world, into the ever-growing fold.”

BROUGHT TO YOU BY

Food & Wine Editors called attention to “some of the best momos in the country, a promising young chef recreating the fast food favorites from childhood, to a raft of makers creating everything from terrific charcuterie to very fine chocolates, you’re never short on things to eat, and we haven’t even gotten to one of America’s best Japanese bakeries, hiding out in the suburbs, or the crazy good banana pudding at the very good hot chicken place, or the top notch cafes.”

That is Momo Ghar, Service Bar Executive Chef Avishar Barua, North Country Charcuterie, MmeloBell’s Bread, Hot Chicken Takeover, and Fox in the Snow and Flowers & Bread, respectively.

“Seriously, don’t sleep on this city. Good things are happening,” wrote the editors.

We partnered with Brown-Forman, Jack Daniels Rye Whiskey, and local bartender Ben Griest from Giuseppe’s Ritrovo to bring a fun twist to your summer cocktails. Rye in July is your go-to weekly drink feature to make while stuck at home for ideas of cocktails. This week, we feature a Boulevardier Cocktail recipe that will surprise you every time, because it relies on Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye, and every barrel has its own unique flavor! Also in this drink? Campari, Sweet Vermouth, and an orange swath garnish.

You can still get your food truck fix at the Commons this summer

The Columbus Commons has been missed this summer, and the Columbus Commons misses you. Columbus may not be getting a summer concert series, the Columbus Food Truck Festival, or Picnic With The Pops events, but, Central Ohio foodies, there will be food trucks.

Beginning last Thursday, the Commons invited Columbus residents downtown to a variety of four food trucks: Cupzilla, Fetty’s Street Food, Pitabilities, and Queen’s Table.

The four above-mentioned food trucks will be at the Commons Thursday, July 16, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

In order to safely socially distance, orders must be placed ahead of time through Street Food Finder. Guests are asked to wear a facial covering when picking up their order. Head to the Columbus Commons website here to find out more information on food truck availability this summer.
