Calling all carnivores! Did you know there’s a food tour in Columbus made just for you?

On the Meat Lover’s Tour, you’ll encounter and devour farm fresh cuts and innovative preparations, a pair of ethnic cuisines displaying novel uses for a wide range of proteins, and a smokehouse with a long history of preparing European-style smoked and cured meats.

No dietary restrictions here, just good ol’ fashioned carne.

According to Columbus Food Adventures, the Meat Lover’s Tour includes stops at the following local establishments:

Skillet

410 E Whittier St, Columbus

“The darling of Columbus foodies, Skillet is about far more than just breakfast! Chef Caskey will take the opportunity to display his brilliance with protein preparations and talk about some of his favorite cuts.”

Thurn’s

530 Greenlawn Ave, Columbus

“A behind the scenes look at this hundred plus year old business in which an astounding variety of meats and sausages are cured and smoked according to traditional European and family recipes.”

BROUGHT TO YOU BY

Apna Bazaar

810 Bethel Rd, Columbus

“This unassuming Pakistani market hides an exceptional restaurant where we will see, first hand, how they use the art of tandoor cooking to prepare delectably moist and tender kebabs.”

The Refectory

1092 Bethel Rd, Columbus

“One of Columbus’ premier restaurants where Chef Richard Blondin is known for his use of game meats and his preparations.”

Tours begin at 6pm and generally last about three and a half hours.

Tickets are $62 each and the next tour date is November 8th.

As the economic impacts of COVID-19 continue, we are beginning to see the effects take their toll on Columbus eateries. Here's a list of some of the changes taking place.

The Sycamore+Cosecha Cocina

Grow Restaurants, the company which owns Harvest Pizza, has listed The Sycamore and Cosecha for sale. While there hasn't been confirmation that the restaurants won’t make a reappearance in some form, Chris Crader stated in Columbus Underground, “It’s a lot of work to re-open after the pandemic and we have a considerable amount of interest in these two properties so it doesn’t make sense to open and then close again so quickly.”

Miller's Ale House

Both Miller’s Ale House locations are closing. The Florida-based company has removed mention of the Ohio locations from their websites.

Flowers and Bread Co.

In a recent article with Columbus CEO, owners Sarah Lagrotteria and Tricia Wheeler announced the closure of the cafe portion of their business. There are plans to expand the flower and bread workshop portion of the business under the new name Flower and Bread Society.
