Highly-anticipated new Metro Park sweeps award before breaking ground

Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks hasn’t even broken ground on its highly-anticipated 20th central Ohio park but the project has already won an award!

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission has recognized the massive Quarry Project for their collaborative efforts to push the project forward, reports This Week News.

Metro Parks, along with their partners on the project Wagenbrenner Development and the cities of Columbus, Hilliard, and Upper Arlington received the MORPC’s Collaborative Achievement in Sustainability Award.

One element of the project is Quarry Trails (QT), a 226-acre Metro Park northeast of Trabue and Dublin roads and West of the Scioto River in UA.

The QT will be a primitive playground for kayaking and other water recreation, camping, backpacking, sheer cliff face climbing, and many more wilderness activities. And all this close enough to home that you can have a full day communing with nature, and be back in time for dinner.

Metro Parks officials hope to break ground for Quarry Trails in 2019.

With the entire property being over 650 acres, the developers saw an opportunity to incorporate residential, commercial, and retail components.
