Ohio Hyperloop deal signed, leaves Columbus out in the cold

An initial agreement for an Ohio-Illinois Hyperloop has been signed but much to our disbelief, the route doesn’t involve Columbus. This comes after the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission really got our hopes up for a Pittsburgh, Columbus, Chicago Hyperloop.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, which is a different company than the one in cahoots with Columbus, agreed to start looking at the feasibility of an ultra fast transportation system connecting Cleveland and Chicago. You could travel between cities in 26 minutes. Ohio and Illinois even got together and wrote a formal letter to President Donald Trump requesting funding for infrastructure.

“As you develop the fiscal year 2019 budget, we urge you to include $20 million for the Hyperloop Transportation Initiative — a grant program to accelerate the innovation, business growth and job creation that will be enabled by this revolutionary transportation system,” state representatives wrote.

Is there room enough in the Buckeye State for two separate Hyperloops?
