After receiving blowback following the tragic mass shootings over the weekend, a controversial billboard in Northland will be coming down.

The billboard on the south side of East Dublin-Granville Road just west of Maple Canyon Avenue depicts an elderly woman holding a firearm with the words “It’s my birthday b*tch.”

It was apparently purchased by social media star Ross Smith to promote an airsoft rifle that shoots pellets, reports This Week News. It doubled as a birthday gift for his grandma, who regularly appears in his viral videos.

Smith has a Galena mailing address.

“I got grandma the most insane birthday present 🎁 😂 Happy 93rd Birthday Gr,” wrote Smith on Instagram.

Lamar Advertising Co., which rented out the board, made the decision to remove the advertisement following complaints from the community about it being in poor taste. Though the billboard went up on prior to the shootings, the community believes it sends the wrong message.
