DeWine extends state curfew

Governor Mike Dewine during his Dec. 10 address announced he would extend the 10 p.m. curfew across the state through Jan. 2. 

“In the next 21 days it really is vitally important that all of us do everything we can to slow this virus down,” DeWine said. 

He initially announced the curfew on Nov. 17.

DeWine said the curfew, along with increased enforcement of mask wearing in retail settings, has had an impact on limiting the COVID-19 virus’ spread. 

He said the state would issue a curfew variance for the Columbus Crew MLS Championship game, the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens game Dec. 14, the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers game Dec. 21, and the American Athletic Conference Championship Game Dec. 19 between the Cincinnati Bearcats and Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

According to coronavirus.ohio.gov, there are now 489,078 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state and 6,772 confirmed deaths. Franklin County has a total of 66,184 cases, 690 deaths and 2,821 hospitalizations.
