A new sweet spot is coming to Italian Village

A new sweet spot is coming to Italian Village

S’wich Social will bring ice cream sandwiches to a new brick-and-mortar location in Italian Village after a series of successful pop-ups over the summer at various breweries and events around the city. Co-founder Sean Whited said setting up shop in Italian Village was always the goal.

“I’m a huge fan of all the restaurants in the area. My favorite pizza place is in Italian Village; favorite cafe; favorite brewery. Woodhouse is amazing. So we just think that that area of town is really cool,” Whited said.

The shop will serve made-to-order ice cream sandwiches that wedge old-fashioned ice cream and your choice of toppings between fresh cookies that are baked in-house each day. Whited said he and his business partner, Addison Brown, came up with the cookie recipe themselves–wonderfully soft and chewy–and perfect for ice cream sandwiches.

Whited and Brown met at Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business and graduated together in 2019. Whited said they both still have full-time jobs, and this is a passion project born out of a need they saw in the community.

“We saw a big gap in Columbus,” said Whited. “We just thought that this needed to be here. So it kind of blossomed from there.”

Whited grew up around sweets. He said his mother and her friends ran a small dessert business, and he wants to bring the same love and care to his shop.

“I’ve always been around it, and I’ve always just been just very passionate about ice cream,” he said. “But I saw growing up just the joy it brought to people and just how fun it was for them.”

S’wich Social will open its doors at 869 N. 4th St. sometime this fall. The shop will be the first resident of a new commercial space that is still unfinished, so Whited said the opening date will depend upon construction. Updates and more information can be found on S’wich Social’s website and its Instagram page.
