TaKorea ghost kitchen blends Asian, Mexican flavors

When business partners Kevin Kim and Yuzhe (Randy) Wang were brainstorming culinary concepts to bring to Columbus, they realized some of their favorite things to make at home were Asian-Mexican fusion dishes–a flavor combination they found wasn’t readily available in our fair city.

The duo has since founded TaKorea, a ghost kitchen located within CloudKitchen, 1282 Essex Ave., that offers orders for delivery and pick-up.

Wang said this is the first concept he and Kim are trying out together, and they hope to expand in the future.

“Ultimately, we want to open a brick (and) mortar location, because we want to deliver delicious food, but we also want to deliver joy to our customers,” he said.

Wang, who is Chinese and considers himself to be a home cook, said he has found comfort in combining flavors that are familiar to him with those that are readily available around Columbus.

“Trying new recipes that would traditionally be considered American, Mexican, Japanese, etc., and combining those with my own style and cultural cooking has brought so much joy,” he said.

His partner, Kim, is Korean and has about a decade of experience in the culinary industry, Wang said.

TaKorea’s main dishes are their tacos, burritos, and bowls topped with Korean sauces and marinades as well as other toppings including asian slaw, kimchi and TaKorea greens. Protein options include spicy pork carnitas, kalbi asada, soy garlic chicken, and crispy BBQ tofu.

Also on the menu is a Korean-style fried chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce. Chips and dip are also available, and you’ll have an expanded array of dipping options available ranging from salsa verde, salsa roja, queso, and guacamole, to spicy korean sauce, yuzu elote dressing, and their signature BBQ sauce.

“We hope to continue to add various specials as we grow and find some stable work/life balance,” Wang said.

TaKorea is open daily from 4 p.m. to midnight and available for delivery via Doordash, Uber Eats, Postmates, and Grubhub. For more information, visit takoreacolumbus.com
