Prominent Columbus theaters will begin requiring masks next month

Just one day after Ohio State University announced a school-wide vaccine mandate, other Columbus institutions are following suit.

Starting Sept. 1, the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts will require all staff, patrons, and volunteers to wear masks while inside CAPA locations. This includes a long list of popular local venues, such as the Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre, Southern Theatre, and Lincoln Theatre.

“The policy change comes in response to the rise in COVID-19 transmission rates in Franklin County and will remain in place until further notice,” a statement from CAPA reads. The association has also said it will be closely monitoring local guidelines and will adjust its policies again in the future if necessary.

And while these are the guidelines laid out by CAPA, other artists or organizations may require visitors to provide further proof of vaccination. CAPA stated it would enforce these policies should the situation arise.
