COSI to reopen this summer

Get ready, Columbus.

COSI is reopening on June 3, according to a release shared today.

In a prepared statement, COSI President and CEO Dr. Frederic Bertley said COSI staff can’t wait to welcome patrons back to the science center.

“We are thrilled about the availability and uptake of vaccines, and like everyone in the region and nation, look forward to getting beyond this pandemic,” he said. “While vaccines are readily available, however, we have implemented a number of additional safeguards to ensure our guests feel confident in visiting COSI and have a science, fun-filled experience.”

COSI will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Guests will need to reserve admission tickets online prior to their visit. Some exhibits, such as the National Geographic Giant Screen Theater, the Gadgets Stage, the Motion Simulator, the High-Wire Unicycle, the Submarine, the “Ocean” exhibit’s Alvinsphere, and the “Space” exhibit’s Mercury Capsule, will remain closed.

One of COSI’s health safeguards includes the implementation of a UV-C photohydroionization air sterilization system, which was done in partnership with Columbus-based Air Force One. The system uses ultraviolet light within COSI’s HVAC system to kill and eliminate germs, viruses, and bacteria.
