Flower Power: Columbus Blooms is back at the Franklin Park Conservatory

Though April might indeed bring showers, you won’t have to wait until May for flowers. 

Next month, Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens welcomes back Columbus Blooms, a colorful outdoor exhibit of flowers on the Conservatory’s grounds featuring more than 125,000 spring bulbs, according to a recent release.

Visitors will be able to see tulips, narcissus, crocus, and hyacinth from the Grand Mallway to the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden, as well as in interior courtyards and rooftop terraces within the Conservatory building.

“Spring is a time of rebirth and awakening” said President and CEO of Franklin Park Conservatory Bruce Harkey in a prepared statement. “This year’s Columbus Blooms has more meaning than ever. In 2020, we looked to spring flowers as a sign of hope for better days ahead. This year, these blooms represent the growth that blossoms after a long period of dormancy.”

Over 65,000 of the blooms were planted in areas where they could self-propagate, to create more blooms in coming years. 

Columbus Blooms is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from April 1 through 30 with general admission to the Conservatory. For more information, visit fpconservatory.org.
