A Rutherford B. Hayes-inspired sandwich shop is opening next month
A presidential new sandwich shop is coming to the greater Columbus area next month.
Literally.
The Rutherford Cafe, a brand new cafe concept named after Central Ohio native and former U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes, is opening soon in downtown Delaware. It will be located at 9 E. William St.

According to owner Mark Smiles, the cafe is currently still under construction, but is slated to open in the first week of January.
Named after the 19th president of the United States Rutherford B. Hayes, a Delaware native and also the namesake of a Delaware high school, the new restaurant is billed as a spot for gourmet sandwiches. It features sandwiches for breakfast, like smoked sausage and cheese on a pretzel roll or garden bagel, and lunch, such as the Italian hero, or a roast beef sub with candied jalapeno and garlic mayo.
The Rutherford Cafe will also offer salads, mini sandwiches, and more.
