Carfagna’s massive new “destination” store to open next week at Polaris
After nearly a year of waiting, we finally have a grand opening date for the new Carfagna’s location at Polaris.
According to the company’s Director of Marketing and Advertising Sal Carfagna, the space—located at 1440 Gemini Pl. in Polaris—will open on Sept. 7, the day after Labor Day.

Announced late last year, the store has actually been in the works for “the better part of a decade,” according to Carfagna. The fourth generation family-owned business has had its sights set on offering more to the Columbus community, and now it can.
At 27,000 square feet, the spacious location will offer a full Italian market and the company’s signature butcher shop, in addition to a cafe, bakery, gelato shop, take and bake pizza spot, high-end liquor store, bar, and even a farmers market-style produce section.
That’s a whole lot of new Carfagna’s, but it’s not even everything the new store is planning to offer. According to Sal Carfagna, their Polaris space will highlight “experiential” shopping, complete with pasta-making and cheese mongering counters where patrons can see their favorite foods as they’re made.
They can learn about them in the new store as well. Knowledgeable employees will welcome customer questions about meat, cheese, pasta, and more, plus an on-site classroom will teach guests to make Carfagna favorites.
“This whole idea started off with us asking how can we expand our offerings in Columbus,” Sal Carfagna said, “Shop, taste, and learn. These are the three words we’ve been focusing on with the new store.”
