Columbus icon Josie’s Pizza reopens at new location

Jack McLaughlin

In January, when Josie’s Pizza closed its doors, after 60 years of slinging pies, it looked like the end.

But guess what, Columbus? The historic Franklinton pizzeria is back in business. Josie’s officially opened its doors at 894 W. Broad St.—only several storefronts east of the original restaurant at 952 W. Broad St.—on Sept. 25.

And for fans of the old Josie’s (of which there were many), you’re in luck. The eatery is still operated by the Catalfina family, now in its third generation of ownership. What’s more, they’ve even kept the same phone number.

And of course, you can expect the pizza to be the same, too. According to owner Jason Catalfina’s son, Austin, in a video released on Josie’s Facebook page, the eatery is still using the same recipe, and even cooks pizzas in the same ovens it had for decades at the original location.

Josie’s added subs onto their menu on Oct. 3, and promised its stromboli is due to make a return soon. The new location is open from 4-10 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from 4-12 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Josie’s is closed on Tuesdays.
