Columbus waffles make Oprah’s list

A local gluten-free waffle business recently attracted the eye of none other than Oprah herself.

Lopaus Point managed to score a spot on Winfrey’s Healthy Living list for January for its Wild Blueberry waffles.

Stacie Skinner, who started Lopaus Point to accommodate her son’s dietary needs, said making the list was an incredible honor.

“It was my son’s idea that I should sell my waffles, and he was absolutely right,” Skinner said. “It brings me and my team joy to make our small batch, handmade waffles for families throughout the U.S.”

Skinner sells her crisp and fluffy waffles, which are free of gluten, dairy, and soy, at several locations throughout the Columbus area. Lopaus Point is also sold in retail stores in about 15 states and sells nationally with Sun Basket, and soon with Harry & David and Fresh Thyme.

When Skinner and her family switched to a gluten-free lifestyle over eight years ago, she found available options lacking in flavor and texture, she said.

“I knew my waffles had to be delicious and made with ingredients I could feel great about serving my family,” she said. “Delicious and healthy is possible, and many companies focus on one but not both.”
