Organizer Karen Bowman told us she had initially wanted to start the fundraiser to keep the eatery open. But after she spoke with Village Taco owner Jonny Stone, she learned the challenges facing the restaurant are more than just debts.

“They just cannot sustain themselves within an ongoing pandemic and feel it is time to slip away and reconnect,” Bowman said. “That being said, we are continuing the fundraising campaign to help alleviate some of the debt the Stones incurred trying to keep their doors open.”

“My family has been a huge supporter of their restaurant throughout the pandemic, and we can only hope that one day the Stone family and Village Taco may return to bless us again with their most delicious vegan creations,” Bowman said.
