Dublin residents bring breakfast to Bridge Park

Food and hospitality industry veterans Frank and Stacy Leary had always dreamed of opening their own restaurant.

Now that they’re making good on their plan, the couple is looking to fill a niche in Bridge Park.

“There’s not many breakfast options in Dublin Bridge Park,” said Frank Leary.

The Learys—who also call Bridge Park home—will be opening Kona Craft Kitchen + Bar this fall at 6757 Longshore St. in Bridge Park.

While the goal is to feature breakfast, Leary said they didn’t want to do so in the traditional manner, with just eggs, bacon, and toast.

“We wanted to bit a little bit more creative in our menu,” he said.

The foundation of the cafe is its coffee—sourced from Kona, Hawaii. The volcanic soil gives the beans a unique flavor, with notes of chocolate and macadamia nut, Leary said.

“It’s life altering,” he said.

Baked goods will be made fresh in-house daily. The space will offer breakfast items, as well as plates for lunch and dinner. Kona will also feature hand-crafted cocktails and a menu of local craft beers.

The Learys are paying as much attention to the physical space as they are to the culinary side of things. The interior dining room will also include a space for private events, which could be cordoned off with French doors. Outside, there will be two patios with soft, comfortable seating and an outdoor fireplace.

Hours are tentatively planned to be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, the space will remain open until 10 p.m.

“We’re really excited about this,” Leary said.

“From the fresh ingredients to the beautifully designed space, Kona will be a great addition to this community,” said Brent Crawford, principal at Crawford Hoying, owner and developer of Bridge Park, in a prepared statement.
