Get ready for a whole new dine-in experience at this Italian Village eatery

If you’re visiting The Market Italian Village for the first time since it closed in November, you’re going to see some major changes.

“It’s been awesome,” said Bar Manager Lauren Noel. “People have been really excited to come back.”

When The Market IV went offline this past fall because of the high number of COVID-19 cases, staff resolved to use the down time for renovating, Noel said. In particular, staff shifted the focus away from retail and onto the dine-in experience.

That means that the wine and grocery selection is gone from the space (though the former is now available online), to free up room for more tables and chairs. While the restaurant could safely seat as many as 70 guests prior to the fall closure, now the redesign means that up to 100 people can now dine in at The Market.

In addition to updating the dining room and bar, staff also updated the kitchen–just in time for two new chefs. Carlos Ysguirre is now serving as head chef, with Andy Stone serving as co-chef. Noel said the two helped reopen the restaurant with a menu that’s focused on small plates for sharing.

“Almost everything is sourced from Ohio or the midwest, and I think that really shows through in the dishes,” she said.

New hours are still tentative, but the restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday for dinner service and then 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for brunch. Everything is dine-in only.
