Hibachi restaurant GENJIGO expands to Westerville

Hibachi lovers in the northern part of the Columbus region have reason to celebrate.

Fast-casual hibachi concept GENJIGO has added a seventh store in the Columbus area, at 14 E. Schrock Rd.

“From its base on the East side of Columbus, GENJIGO has successfully expanded into other communities with strong daytime traffic and a residential population, such as Grove City and Lewis Center. Westerville is another such community that satisfied our development metrics and presented great promise for the GENJIGO brand,” said Darrell van Ligten, GENJIGO chief executive officer.

Founded as a way to offer hibachi-style Japanese cuisine while circumventing the wait time found at Japanese steakhouses, GENJIGO makes customizable hibachi bowls with sirloin, chicken, shrimp, veggies, or a combination. The bowls come with fresh veggies and Yum Yum or Ginger sauce.

The new location is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily for socially distant dine-in and no-contact carryout.

Other locations include Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Gahanna, Columbus, Grove City, and Lewis Center.
