High-energy dueling piano bar opening University District location this weekend

Columbus has been a little bit too quiet for the last 19 months. The Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar should fix that, though.

Formerly located at 401 N. Front St. in the Arena District, The Big Bang closed on March 15, 2020 due to COVID-19. Shortly after, according to owner Meredyth Muller, the location’s lease expired.

And after over a year and half, they’re finally coming back to Columbus. The Big Bang will reopen its brand-new University District location, at 1516 N. High St., this weekend.

“We thought that maybe this is just the end; we might end Columbus business,” Muller, an OSU graduate, said. “We never really wanted to walk away from the market, though. We loved Columbus, we had a lot of family and friends here. So we gave it one last look, and we found the perfect spot.”

Muller noted the new Big Bang’s location close to campus is better suited for the bar’s brand of high-energy fun as well. It combines standup comedy with live music, as performers behind two different pianos take song requests all night long, and singalong participation is encouraged.

The Big Bang also has locations in Cleveland, Las Vegas, and Nashville, where they’re headquartered.

Their new University District spot will undergo a private soft opening this week, with their official grand opening set to take place on Oct. 8.

“We’re hoping to see new faces, old friends, old customers,” said Muller. “We couldn’t be more excited to get back to live music. It feels like all the stars have aligned.”
