Local craft brewery reopens airport location after lengthy COVID-related closure
In March of 2020, the Land-Grant Brewing location inside the John Glenn Columbus International Airport closed in response to the initial outbreak of COVID-19 in Ohio.
And now, nearly 18 months later, the spot is serving customers once again. The location officially opened its doors last Friday, Aug. 20.
“It has been a long time coming,” said Land-Grant Director of Operations Mark Richards. “Business at the airport has been slow for a while, and there are still a lot of places in the airport that are closed.”

The location has been open at the local airport since early December of 2016. Since drinks are served in plastic cups, it allows customers to carry them freely throughout most of the airport.
“Since you’re already through security, if you’re still a little hesitant about being around other people, you can take your beer with you,” Richards said. “You just can’t bring it on the plane.”
And while their airport location, like the rest of the service industry, is still experiencing some issues staying fully staffed, according to Richards, the Columbus craft bewery is just grateful to have the spot open once again.
“I was there when we opened and it was just great to be back,” he said. “It was great to be behind the bar, slinging drinks and talking with customers about our beer.”
