North Market Farmers’ Festival to feature local farms and makers

This Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, the North Market Downtown will feature fresh food samples, live music, and more as part of an event showcasing local green thumbs and crafters.

Rick Harrison Wolfe, North Market’s executive director, said North Market has held the Farmer’s Festival for many years. Though it’s gone through several iterations over the last few decades, the event has always been held in some form to highlight local farms and products.

“Local farmers play a huge role in our community, and North Market specifically, when it comes to food systems and our economy,” he said. “We love being able to have a day dedicated to our local farmers where we can show our support for the important work they do.”

The free, kid-friendly event always attracts families, regular farmers’ market guests, and those just looking for something fun to do, he said.

“It’s always a good time,” he said.

A schedule of events can be found here. Activities will include face painting, a baking contest, cotton candy and pie-throwing fundraisers, and more.

“We’re so excited to once again hold this fundraising event and celebrate those who make our farmers’ market possible,” said North Market Director of Programming & Events Jillian Woltz. “Farmers’ Fest is a fun and easy way to show support to North Market and farmers’ market vendors.”
