Philadelphia natives opening spot for authentic cheesesteaks, “water ice”, early next year

How often have you had a Philly cheesesteak impression that—whether you’re from Philadelphia or not—you can tell just doesn’t make the grade?

This shouldn’t be a problem by the spring of 2022, because a pair of transplants from the City of Brotherly Love are launching Marlow’s Cheesesteaks, a new concept that will include truly authentic cheesesteaks as well as the popular Philly-based dessert water ice.

“In Philly we’re known for two things: cheesesteaks and water ice. And if you don’t know, water ice is like Italian ice, but with a smoother and creamier texture,” said owner Shanika Sheppard, who currently operates the taste of Philly food truck.

Their soon to open restaurant will focus on both classic Philadelphia-native food items. While the eatery hasn’t settled on a location just yet, they’re actively looking, and hope to open by the spring of 2022.

To ensure the true Philly experience, Sheppard ships in authentic ingredients for all of their food.
