Walking Distance Brewing will open this weekend

The wait is almost over.

Walking Distance Brewing Co., the brand-new brewpub operating out of a historic downtown Marysville building, will hold its grand opening on Oct. 9. The brewery is located at 222 E. 8th St.

Boasting roughly 1,200 square feet of indoor space and 1,000 square feet with pits adjoining outdoor patio, the brewery plans to be a hub for the Marysville community.

Its name is actually a nod to both the city, where most destinations are only a short walk away, and the spot’s convenient location. “We’re just within walking distance of downtown,” said Teddy Valinski, who co-owns Walking Distance with Doug Olsen. “But it’s still located in uptown, just a little bit off the beaten path.”

It will feature bar and table seating, a garage-style door facing 8th Street that will open during warmer weather, fire pits, and even free Giant Jenga.

The brewery will house 17 taps in total, with beers like Ohio Boi, an American ale, Clydesdale, a stout, and Duck Hunter, a West Coast IPA with rye. It also plans to brew three of its initial offerings with entirely Ohio-grown malt and hops.

“We’ve been working on this for two years, and I don’t have the words for how excited I am,” Valinski said. “I can’t wait for everyone to see the space that was created by locals, with products from locals. We got here with the help of our community and we can’t wait to continue to grow with the community and contribute to it.”
