Wendy’s plans to expand breakfast offerings next year
Remember the excitement you felt when you first learned Wendy’s planned to roll out a breakfast menu?
Well, prepare for that all over again, because the Dublin-based fast food giant has plans to expand its breakfast offerings in 2022, according to a recent interview Forbes conducted with Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor.
Wendy’s was one of the largest fast-food burger chains of 2021 according to sales figures, and one of the reasons for that was their newly-introduced breakfast line. The new menu features a variety of breakfast sandwiches (like the Breakfast Baconator), breakfast potatoes, and even a frosty-infused coffee drink, the Frosty-ccino.

“The best proof point for our breakfast is that in the worst of times, we’re still profitable. We’re here to stay. We’re number three for breakfast share in the burger space and we’re just in the early innings,” Penegor said in the interview.
While Wendy’s breakfast menu does offer some decent variety, according to Penegor, customers can expect even more in the near future.
“We have a nice mix now and we know we have gaps in the menu and that was purposeful to start and make it simple and gain franchisee confidence. Now we can fill in those gaps and start to innovate,” he said, according to Forbes.
And while new food is likely on the way as well, Penegor said beverages are where Wendy’s diners can expect to see the most new offerings. He didn’t hint at exactly what those drinks would be, so we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves in the new year.
