Two adjacent buildings on East Whittier Street are being targeted for a multi-tenant space slated for restaurant, bar, and entertainment use.

Aaron Kreais, principal of development firm Kreais Companies, said the project is expected to be finished in 12 to 18 months.

“The name is being worked on right now,” he said.

One of the buildings dates to the early 1900s, and features a brick interior, an atrium, and exposed beams, Kreais said.

“We are definitely working to preserve the character of that building,” he said.

The second building, which dates to the 1950s, has a concrete and steam beam interior with a very industrial feel, he said.

Kreais said city zoning allows for a rooftop patio up to 3,500 square feet. While it’s undetermined which building the patio will be located on, the goal is to create a unique experience for guests up there.
