Columbus team takes first place at country’s largest ballroom dance competition

A Columbus dance studio has brought home a first place finish at the 44th Annual Ohio Star Ball, billed as the largest ballroom dance competition in the United States. The event was held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from Nov. 15-20.

Danceville, U.S.A, the Victorian Village dance studio known for coordinating flash mobs throughout Columbus, was awarded first place in the contest’s Group Formation category, which took place on Nov. 20.

For their routine, Danceville, U.S.A. staff and students danced to Brittney Spears’ song “Circus.” The performance was choreographed by Danceville, U.S.A. Dance Director Tony Meredith, a former U.S. National Champion in Latin dance.

“To continue our legacy and win at the largest ballroom competition in the U.S. for the eighth year, it’s a great achievement,” said Valerija Semeniakaite, an instructor at Danceville, U.S.A. “We have such amazing, hardworking and dedicated staff members and students. Winning at Ohio Star Ball, in our hometown, means the world to us.”

Danceville, U.S.A. first opened in 2014, inside The Sanctuary on Neil, where it’s located today.
